Salvetat in good shape

Maryline Salvetat (Team Lapierre) is in shape. Already very great at the time of the last Rock of azure she has just become famous all over again to the highest level, but in cyclo - cross this time, at the time of the Cup of the World that took place in Turin (Italy). indeed, she took a superb 5th room behind queens of the discipline: Daphny Van Den Brand, Hanka Kupfernagel, Marianne Your and Reza Ravestijns. " I made of the derny all the race!, she declared to the arrival. The rhythm is a lot faster than in VTT, it I am necessary to a little times to hand of it to me. That will go better from here 15 days... " That rather falls well since will take place Championships of Europe after the 1st stage of Cup of France that will take place to Tours the Sunday 2 November and the Saturday 8 November to Tabor (Republic Czech).

The ordering of this championship risks strong to look like the one of Turin since one finds 10 European to the first 10 rooms.

While waiting, the 1re stage of the Cup of the World constituted a first in the history of the feminine cyclo - cross. It was indeed about the inaugural stage of the first Cup of the feminine World. The champion of the world Netherlander Daphny Van Den Brand (25 years) is pulled herself of it with honors while imposing itself to the sprint owing her last three adversaries. To the term of this sleeve disputed in the park of the Pellerina, on a technical circuit but fast, the Netherlander to the blond plaits imposed herself before the vice - champion of the world German Hanka Kupfernagel and the very promising Netherlander Marianne Vos, only aged of 16 years. Outrage the 5th room of Maryline Salvetat, let's note the good benefit of another competitor French, Nadia Triquet, that finishes 7th to 1'42 ".

Salvetat always well

The 2nd stage of the Cup of the feminine World took place yesterday to Saint - Wendel in Germany. After a first undecided stage everybody waited for the match that had to deliver to herself the Netherlander Daphny Van Den Brand, the German Hanka Kupfernagel and the French Maryline Salvetat. But the first, winner in Turin three weeks ago, didn't spring himself in her better condition. The German Hanka Kupfernagel assigned therefore to assure the spectacle. Ella started since the departure, glued to Basques by the Frenchwomen Maryline Salvetats and Nadia Triquets.

The holder of the vest of leader of the Cut of the World, Daphny Van Den Brand, threw the sponge enough early. Hanka Kupfernagel, pursuing her infernal tempo, isolated itself in the 3rd tour for more to be reviewed. The old doubles champion of the world took back this second stage with 22 seconds of advance on the American Alison Dunlap, author of a beautiful final. The Frenchwomen Maryline Salvetats and Nadia Triquets finished 3rd and 4th at 34 and 55 seconds. To the ordering of the Cut of the World the Berliner Hanka Kupfernagel appropriates the command logically after her victory to Saint - Wendel and her 2nd room in Turin.

After two stages Hanka Kupfernagel precedes Maryline Salvetat and the small phenomenon Netherlander Marianne Your, aged only of 16 years. As for Laurence Leboucher she finished the show in 12nd position: " I was not in shape. I was tired and without success. The race was very physical, very difficult and I didn't have any good sensations. I only have five weeks of practice. It is going to be necessary to forget this race very quickly and to get ready for the second stage of the National Challenge that will take place November 30 to Sedan ".

Laurence Leboucher champion of the world

www.ouest-france.fr(02-02-2004)

French appreciated Pontchâteau and the championships of the world of cyclo-cross with this 5ë edition. Nearly 30 000 witnesses took part in this popular success. With the gold of Leboucher, the money of Salvetat and the bronze of Lhotellerie, the team of France beat her record.

The Frenchwoman Laurence Leboucher became again champion of the world of cyclocross, Sunday morning, on the course of Pontchâteau (western of France).

Leboucher, already victorious in 2002, beat another Frenchwoman, Maryline Salvetat.  Hanka Kupfernagel, twice titrated (2000, 2001) and dominant in the World cup, had to be satisfied with the bronze medal. The race was done at of the second of the six turns of circuit when Leboucher, 32 years, which disputed almost this test in residence since it is originating in the Country of the Loire, widened the gap on Kupfernagel, followed a long time like its shade by Salvetat. (GFR)

The time of a Marseillaise, the noisy Flemish tribe present on the site of Coët-Roz remembered that it was not alone in the world to cultivate the joys of the cyclo-cross. The song of Brabançonne resounded three times in the village of Loire-Atlantique, at the juniors, hopes and elites; but the Belgians do not support the comparison in the women rows. The first lady of outer of Quièvrain, Anja Nobus, point only to the 13e place, at 3' 31 '' of Laurence Leboucher.

Sarthoise offered to France a title of nobility in front of nearly 30 000 witnesses, including 300 come from its department. Inspired with the attack of the 2 d turn, the regional one of the stage had located the bump where to make squeak teeth "I left to the blank, with the feeling, retains that which had already been essential on Zolder, in 2002. It was me or Maryline. I left the first, and Maryline wust just behind Hanka. It is the victory of a team "

Doctor Maryline Salvetat radiated with his money medal around the neck, after having played the game of this team to the so strong bonds. Welded by an honest emulation "was in Kupfernagel to make the job, I were easy in his wheel, I made scooter, I slowed down even When I saw it to be blown, I left to earn money. I am content "

The smile of Tarnaise and the tears contained of Leboucher on the podium are added to bronze glané Saturday by promising Clément Lhotellerie as juniors. The 4e places of Cid, in this category, and Minard in espoir illustrate the team of Jean-Yves Plaisance, humble national and effective trainer organizing of this vintage: "I appreciated this team of France courageous and dynamic" At the men, the Belgians largely dominated the debates yesterday. Bart Wellens was essential on the sprint in front of two of its compatriots, the French having to be satisfied with one 7 e places in the person of Francis Mourey, only Blue able to cause the Belgians, one year after one 6e position "the podium unrealizable" At 23 years, the new one was protected from Madiot is not resigned. The Belgians won 3 golds, the honor is done.

Vincent COTE

Gold for Leboucher

Laurence Leboucher still brought back gold of the Championships of the world of cyclo-cross, Sunday with Pontchâteau, where France realized 2 better medals in the race ladies.

In front of a public full with enthusiasm, the Frenchwomen achieved a race of perfect team. Leboucher was alone at the head, by a surprise attack, as of the second of the six turns of circuit, and Maryline Salvetat was satisfied to follow their large rival, Deutch Hanka Kupfernagel, before outdistancing it in the last but one turn.

Both raised the arms by crossing the finishing line, to forty seconds of variation.

Leboucher, already honored in 2002 on the Belgian circuit of Zolder, recovered her beautiful shirt rainbow, the third of her history after that conquered in 1998 in cross-country race (VTT). Salvetat, championne of France in title in front of... Leboucher, reached for the first time the world podium.

"We did not have the choice, we did not have especially to await the sprint", explained the money medal-holder, young woman a 29 year old who finished last year her studies of medicine and decided to devote herself fully, the one winter time, with its sport.

Castraise, second of the provisional classification of the World cup behind Kupfernagel, remembered then that her German rival had beaten it with the sprint with the race on road of the Championships of the world... 1992 (juniors).

"I waited to attack Hanka", added Salvetat. "I wanted to be sure that Laurence had enough advance. One will not remake the race. I thought of attacking a little further. Laurence attacked in first. I am not disappointed at all. The next year, if that is, it will be perhaps my turn ", she told.

"If there had not been Maryline, I would not have been champion of the world", answered with Leboucher fair play, whose winter was disappointed by a fracture of an undergone clavicle last summer and especially the very fatty grounds, little with its suitability.

Sarthoise, which adores the animals - she has three asses in its garden and has also a young bitch bulldog with which it posed after its victory -, took from Pontchâteau its first international victory of the winter.

With nearly 32 years (on next 22 February), this thin young woman, determined and energetic, is still given for objective to take down a fourth Olympic selection (road 1992, VTT 1996 and 2000). Then, it envisaged to dispute a last winter season in cyclo-cross, history to defend its world title with the country of Kupfernagel (St Wendel), before hanging up again.

Pont-Château 2004

Situated in the region of Countries of the Loire and in the department of the Loire Atlantique the city of Bridge - Castle is to 50 kilometers to the west north of Nantes and 450 kilometers in the southwest of Paris.

The circuit of championships of the cyclo - cross world is located close to the center city of Pont-Château to the Coët-Roz locality. The course and its profile are represented below on the diagram.

  * We can cut up the circuit in three parts:

  • A first physical and technical part with many changes of rhythm of the finish line to the sector 12
  • A second rather left from recuperation, fast (sectors 13 to 21), with passage to the low point of the circuit and a staircase (sectors 18–19)
  • A third left more physical (sectors 23–24) and a rise toward the finish line, often decisive (sectors 25–26)
